Who made the mistake in the Odense goal? Was it the Villarreal Keeper? The Villar No 24? Or some one else? I know, do you?

Ok. Here's what happened. The Viller Keeper took a goal clearance. He kicked it to his defender standing on the side of the the penalty area. While the ball was still in the area, an Odense player ran across the area to the defender, took the ball off him, took it into the area and scored.
What should have happened?
The AR at that end  should have been standing level with the defender, saw the attacker run into the area BEFORE the ball was in play, ie out of the area.
What should/ would have the Ref done had he been told?

I'll take a punt....

The attacker is not permitted to be in the penalty area before the ball has left the area, so when he entered the area an offense has been committed and play should be stopped.

Potential yellow card if it is assumed that the attacker entered the area intentionally.

Restart - the ball is not in play after a goal kick until it has left the penalty area.  This means that the offense occurs while the ball is not in play, and so the restart should be a goal kick.
